  • Summers Trucking Playing a Key Role in Replacing the Hubble Telescope. It is T-minus two months until NASA launches a new telescope to replace the aging Hubble telescope. Associate member Summers Trucking is playing a critical role in this journey. “We feel proud of what we did. We feel wonderfully blessed to be involved in this and now we are going to sit back and relax,” said Summers Trucking Vice President John Summers. For about the last 12 years, Summers Trucking in Ephrata has worked with NASA to move components of the Webb Telescope all over the country and now all over the world.   • Lauren Rose, Design Team Leader, High Concrete Group, Guest Lectures at Alma Mater, NJIT. Lauren is paying it forward with recent guest lectures in the engineering and architecture departments at NJIT. The PCI Foundation recently awarded a $60,000 grant to NJIT for a 4-year studio focused on precast, prestressed concrete education. The new curriculum incorporates guest lectures, plant site visits, and in-progress project visits to participating and former students. Said Gernot Riether, Associate Professor, Hillier College of Architecture and Design, “Lauren gave a very inspiring and informative lecture on precast concrete to the entire second year B Arch cohort (about 80 students).” Click here to see photos of Lauren’s guest lecture!
  • Plant Tours Welcome! The Mechanicsburg, PA, office of Dewberry recently visited Northeast Prestressed Products, LLC . Participants learned about all aspects of production as well as the logistics involved in shipping precast, prestressed bridge elements. Participants received 1.5 PDH for the plant tour conducted by NPP’s Troy Jenkins, PE, VP/Chief Engineer.
